Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Grant Scheme Opens

The registration portal for the Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Grant Scheme Opens opened on 14 March.  Local authorities are administering the scheme and have begun to write to businesses directly to provide them with a Customer ID and PIN to access the ICOB portal. Minister Coveney encouraged businesses to engage with the registration process as soon as they receive their letter. Payments under the scheme will begin in late April. The registration deadline is 1 May 2024.

The ICOB grant, announced as part of Budget 2024, is available to qualifying businesses as a contribution towards the rising costs faced by businesses. The amount of the grant payable to eligible businesses is based on the value of the commercial rates bill the business received in 2023. It is not a commercial rates waiver, and businesses should continue to pay their commercial rates bill as normal. You can find information and FAQ on the ICOB grant on the website of your local authority.
